for everyone

It can be as simple as a smile or as extreme as saving a life.  How many times has it changed your day, or even your life?

Kindness Counts

Everybody at one time or another has known such people, strangers, relatives or friends who have changed the quality of the day for others.   The shining quality of goodness radiates from them, from their mere presence.  All these, humble and unaware, carry with them the kindness and generosity of their lives.  These are the greatest artists.  They practice the highest of arts---the art of living, the art of life itself.

---Myles Connolly

Kindness.  Benevolence.  Consideration.  Compassion.  Goodheartedness.  Altruism. Many words express that moment when a good thought translates into a good deed; when a generous gesture touches the life of another.

An act of kindness can be as simple as a smile or as extreme as saving a life.  It may cost time and convenience and it is done without expectation of return.  It is rooted in a recognition of our own worth and ties that bind us to God and all His children.

The unbuyable gifts

Consider the gifts that money cannot buy, such as kindness, thoughtfulness, courtesy, consideration and good nature.

Do not misunderstand me: I do not advocate developing a Pollyanna personality.  It is just good manners, good morals and good sense to be courteous, thoughtful, kindly, considerate and good natured.

Take kindness, for example.

One night a good many years ago as a Lackawanna ferry nosed into its slip at Hoboken, the passengers in the cabin crowded through the door---all but one man who was slouched in a drunken sleep.

Perhaps twenty people glanced at the drunkard as they passed.  Then one old gentleman went out of his way to step over and shake the sleeper.  Hoboken,” he shouted in the man’s ear in a kindly tone.

A dozen people turned at the sound of the voice.  A look of shame crept into their faces as the whispered word went around that the man who had thought to do what any one of them might have done was Thomas Edison.

“It never occurred to me until I read Try Giving Yourself Away that one could adopt simple kindliness as a giving-away hobby,” wrote a friend.

Why not?  Not only is it a free hobby, but it is a wonderful way to collect friends.  It springs from the heart and speaks to the heart.

The Path

The Path is not hard, if you would only look and choose the right road; admire, but do not criticize; sympathize, but do not condemn.  And you who long for the Good, the True, and the Beautiful shall not need to travel far to find the Beautiful, for you shall then realize that you are the Beautiful in yourselves.

Quotes on Kindness:

A good character is the best tombstone.  Those who loved you and were helped by you will remember you when forget-me-nots have withered.  Carve your name on hearts, not on marble.  ~Charles H. Spurgeon

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.  ~Author Unknown

Today, give a stranger one of your smiles.  It might be the only sunshine he sees all day.  ~Quoted in P.S. I Love You, compiled by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

Paul, on Romans 12:17

Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you - not because they are nice, but because you are.  ~Author Unknown

"For if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even `sinners' love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even `sinners' do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even `sinners' lend to `sinners,' expecting to be repaid in full.  But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

---Jesus to the crowd, on Luke 6:32

Love never fails.

Paul to the Corinthians

WOW!! Gr8 post!!
Thanks Rai..
Kindness sure counts, adds, multiplies...:)
Someone said....

"There is kindness and goodness in everybody.
Whenever you do something nice for someone, or find something good to say and say it, you inoculate the recipient with kindness.
Not only does this help build up their immunity to life's difficulties, it strengthens yours as well. In reality, kindness is a miracle drug and best of all, it's free!!"

Let's be kind to people we meet every day. Let's spread some kindness around.
May this day be filled with kindness and may you always remember that kindness you nothing to give but it blesses the who receives it.
Know that you are a blessing to me,
Julie

In this world of fast-paced, stress filled lives, jobs and families, sometimes we forget how good it feels to do something for others out of the kindness of our hearts; to enjoy and savor every minute of everyday instead of letting it pass us by. Let's take the time to say hello to a neighbor, smile at a child, to stop and help someone with a heavy load or lend a shoulder to cry on; these simple acts will rekindle that satisfied, full-hearted feeling that comes from caring for others.
I remember a few years ago, I went out to eat with a friend of mine. We had a nice quiet dinner at restaurant. When we were finished eating, I went to take out my wallet, and the waiter came over. He said, "The man who was sitting at the table across from you, he paid for your meal before he left." We were astonished. I still wonder to this day what it was all about - a stranger paying for our meal. So I figure it was a random act of kindness. How awesome! It was the best meal ever. Bless him.
God Bless for this wonderful blog. Have a great and blessed weekend.

Thanks for sharing, kuya Jan! In fact, it's the "little things" that comes from the hearts, not the superflous words, dogmas or doctrines that counts most in the eyes of our Lord.

May God Bless You Always!

Well, whoever he is---he surely is an angel in disguise. Spreading love abroad---without any strings attached. May GOD Bless him richly, whether he's a Catholic, a Christian, a Jew,a Samaritan or not, no matter who or what---Christ is surely seen, not just in his lips---but in his heart.

May there be MORE like Him, Oh Lord Jesus! Thou Prince of Heavenly Romance!!!

Oh King! Our King. Bless every unnamed soul who spreads forth Unconditional Love to the world---Amen.
